Who am I?
Hi, I’m Matthew Takata Shepherd (they/them), a tattoo artist and creative who fell in love with the art of tattooing in 2020. Specializing in vibrant color tattoos, playful designs, and intricate dot work, I bring a unique perspective to every piece I create.
My work explores themes of joy, queerness, presence, and nature, often drawing inspiration from my Asian American heritage and daily meditation practice. Whether it’s abstract and emotional or precise and realistic, my art is about more than the final result—it’s about the playful process of exploration and creation.
Originally from California, I’ve been based in Berlin since 2021. As a mixed, queer, non-binary artist, I strive to create a space that is inclusive, kind, and affirming. Body positivity, intersectionality, and compassion are at the core of everything I do, both in my art and in my interactions with others.
